Technology is developing and so is the private 5G network infrastructure in organisations to bring in more efficiency and productivity. Though organisations are switching to private 5G networks, the adoption rate in large startups is a bit higher where manufacturing and logistics enterprises are the early adopters of this technology. Having said that, operators are helping startups with their expertise to build private 5G network using 5G Network Testing Equipment and tools & 5G Speed Tests analyzer; RF Drive test tools, and deliver better Quality of Experience (QoE) to users. As per a research, the market for private 5G networks is expected to produce around $1,375.63 Mn as 2021 ends. As they will progress, the market is subsequently predicted to reach $14,284.96 Mn approximately by 2028 having a CAGR of 39.7% from 2021 to 2028.

    Classification of Private 5G networks

Deep diving into the advanced wireless technology i.e., 5G private networks can be broadly segregated into three categories as mentioned below:

    1. Private Campus Networks

Generally, networks deployed over a small geographical area or within a campus (e.g., an enterprise campus) to get connectivity are called a private campus network. These are local networks specially designed to serve a specific region and the range can be anywhere in between a distance of few metres to kilometres. Such kinds of networks have various restrictions like usage of networks limited to devices and staff working around the campus. On top of that, it adds an extra level of security to make the network more secured. Moreover, private networks within the campus can use either the private Radio Access Network (RAN) or public RAN to ensure the network has high-end security, with higher throughput and no external involvement.

    2. National Private Networks

Private networks when spread across the nation are called national private networks. Such a solution gets support from public mobile operators of the nation to use their existing RAN while the company’s network and management functions are kept private. National shipping and logistics enterprises and utility providers like national electricity enterprises handling smart meters are the main adopters of these networks. The ability to integrate this technology with their IT, control and monitoring systems, and top-notch security drives the industry leaders’ mindset to shift to 5G private networks from previous networking technologies like 3G, 4G.

    3. Global Private Networks

Aimed at global startups, global private networks are uniquely a new approach to serve the networking requirements of large businesses like automobile manufacturers, logistics enterprises multi-national companies with several locations worldwide. But, how this works on a global platform?

Well, the concept is like having an own private slice on the enterprise level in targeted countries, thereby ensuring the same Quality of Service (QoS), configuration, and security across the globe.

A case in point, floLIVE has developed an international connectivity management service that includes an array of core networks spread around the world. Each of these core networks is designed to support cellular networks 2G, 3G, 4G, and 5G. The service provides the foundation for the global international mobile subscriber identity (IMSI) library.

What makes the 5G private network an ideal technology?

One of the prominent features of the 5G private network is the provision of connectivity with fibers in the absence of cables. This means 5G private networks can deliver network connectivity without cable infrastructure. However, the company needs to have its set of requirements and invest in the right connectivity solution to serve their demands.

In contrast to the current 4G LTE networks, 5G private network is the potential next-gen technology having the capability to revolutionise the way businesses function and operate. The wireless radio networks support other transmission devices/equipments associated within the company whether it is a campus/nationwide/global private network.

    Conclusion

Startups have always shown their enthusiasm to adopt any new emerging technology in the business ecosystem. Now, when it comes to embracing one-of-a-kind wireless technology like the private 5G network, they are again shining in the competitive market with their early adoption strategy. They are improving their efficiency and productivity by multiple folds, growing and bringing more revenues thereby building a strong brand presence in the competitive world. This is where other organisations need to rethink and align their strategies well towards the cutting-edge technologies to enhance their business growth and ensure they do not fall apart from startups.
