If you’re looking for long-term relief from arthritis in your four-legged friend, then this article may help you make an informed decision to try CBD oil and give your dog some relief and comfort through its anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving effects.

When it comes to CBD for dogs with arthritis, you will find mixed views. Some people say that CBD is not safe for dogs. Others say there are no side effects of CBD on dogs.

Cannabidiol, or CBD for short, is a compound found in hemp plants. Most people have heard about this compound because of its connection to marijuana (cannabis Sativa). However, hemp and marijuana are very different breeds of the cannabis plant. They both contain cannabidiol, but they also contain other compounds.

Marijuana contains a much higher level of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). THC is the compound responsible for making people high when they smoke marijuana. CBD, on the other hand, doesn’t have psychoactive properties. There are also no known cases of dogs or animals getting ‘high’ from taking CBD oils or extracts. There is anecdotal evidence that suggests that animals tend to avoid it.

Traditional Treatments for Arthritis in Dogs

Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are the most commonly prescribed medication for dogs by veterinary doctors. However, these medicines have severe, even fatal, side effects.

A 2015 study observed that NSAIDs’ adverse side effects are higher than any other veterinary drug currently prescribed. These drugs are also known to cause renal damage or failure due to using NSAIDs for the long term.

Most veterinarians already know that the long-term use of NSAIDs, especially in older dogs or those with immunosuppressed liver or kidney function, is potentially dangerous. The science community has been consistently searching for a safe treatment for pain and inflammation in dogs.

Benefits of CBD Products for Dogs with Arthritis

    • Alternatives to NSAIDs: Osteoarthritis involves pain and inflammation. Cannabidiol is known to consist of both anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving properties; hence, it is not surprising to see that CBD for dogs with arthritis has been a major focus of treatment alternatives without the downsides of NSAIDs.
    • Treatment of Inflammation: A dog suffering from arthritis experiences inflammation. CBD products have been of inordinate help with such dogs, especially those with low immunity. Since CBD has both pain-reducing and anti-inflammatory properties, these cannabis products have been confirmed to avert the damage caused by inflammation.
    • Pain Reduction: CBD products have come a great way in minimizing the pain in dogs. Also, when provided in supplement to the traditional medicines, they safely prevent the intake of strong drugs in dogs.

    Is CBD Okay For Dogs?

Many experts believe that CBD is a safe choice for dogs. Many studies have been conducted that have shown that CBD on dogs for arthritis has fruitful results. For instance, a small study conducted in 2019 tested how dogs would respond to CBD soft chews given twice per day over 12 weeks.

Based on the dog’s body weight, 2 milligrams of CBD were provided. The doctor monitored the blessed tests continuously to observe whether the dog had any harmful side effects. Results showed that the dog suffered no negative reactions, indicating that this dose of CBD is safe for dogs. The key to a healthy dog is to feed them a quality like this puppy food right from the start

    Prepare a Treatment Plan

If you have a dog suffering from arthritis, it might be time to talk to your veterinarian about adding full-spectrum CBD treatment to your dog’s arthritis. CBD is an all-natural option that may help your dog in getting relief. With the help of good-quality CBD products, you can help your dog safely ease the pain and inflammation associated with arthritis.
