The gaming industry in Pennsylvania continues to hit the headlines due to its impressive performance. May 2022 was one of the best-performing months in the PA gaming industry. Figures published by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board show the industry generated combined gross revenue of $447.8 million. The board released the report in mid-June. Compared to the same period last year, this year’s result records an 8.38 percent increase.
Parx Casino is in the top five
The combined revenue is consolidated from all forms of casino games. The board consolidated revenue from sports betting, slot machines, iGaming, table games, VGTs, and fantasy games. Parx Casino performed well and is leading in the top five of the best performers. Parx online gambling products are continually performing well compared to its competitors.
Retail slots performed the best
A further report from the board lists how each gaming category contributed to the impressive revenue. On top are the retail slots, which generated combined revenue of $205.7 million. Compared to the same month last year, this was a 20.1 percent increase. Table games were second after generating $88.6 million.
This is surprisingly a 14.7 percent rise compared to May last year. iGaming came third after generating $78.2 million, which is an increase of 16.3 percent compared to the same period last year. At a time when there are a lot of businesses filing bankruptcy, the PA casinos’ performance shows the positive support they are receiving from the public.
Sports betting remains strong
Sports betting stood unshaken and remained one of the best performers. It pooled a gross revenue of $35 million, an increase by a staggering 26.2 percent compared with May 2021. Fantasy games recorded a decrease of 20.1 percent and settled at a revenue of $1.6 million. In the recent history of gambling in the US, Pennsylvania has continually recorded attractive profits year after year.
Casinos in the state have recently invested heavily in promoting the industry. They have actively participated in community support projects which have been a plus to the casinos. Leading PA casinos such as Parx have launched casino facilities in other states like New Jersey. This shows the casinos will perform much better in the years ahead.
An increase in slot machines was timely
Compared to May 2021, the number of slot machines available in PA casinos has tremendously increased. By the end of May 2021, casinos in PA had a total of 22,496 slot machines. By the end of May 2022, the machine has increased to 26,004. This is an increase of 15.6 percent or 3,508 slot machines.
